The Master Léo Leite tells us in this interview how was his beginning in Jiu-Jitsu at 16 years old and the first victories in competitions.

“I had never won any state championship until I was 17, I always hit the post, something was always missing. And when I was 16 I started training Jiu-Jitsu, my father always said that when we were about 15, 16 years old he was going to put us to train Jiu-Jitsu, and we started training with Alexandre Paiva, who gave the black belt for him, for me and my brother, the 3 of us are Alexandre's black belts. ”

. After revealing his origins, Léo Leite tells us about his initiation in Jiu-Jitsu Judo competitions and also talks a little about his first victories.

“When I started training Jiu-Jitsu it gave me so much confidence in my judo, that I started to win the blue absolute weight contests, I took part in 10 fights in one day, in one event. That started to give me a lot of confidence and at the age of 17 I hadn't even won a Brazilian championship tryouts here in Rio yet, and I decided to go to a Junior Pan American Championship tryouts in São Paulo, where I had 11 fights on the day . I finished by submission on the mat and won 6 fights, I also won the spot for the 1997 Pan American Junior. ”
